Daniel Jones’ Giants teammate goes off on QB decision: ‘Weak as f—-’

More Giants players are vocalizing their disappointment with the team’s decision to bench quarterback Daniel Jones.
On Tuesday, defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence openly disagreed with the move, calling Jones “the best quarterback on the team.” Later, another unnamed offensive player ripped the decision to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports.
“We’re not idiots. They did it because of money. So be it. But Daniel has been all class, never complained, and is now being completely disregarded. The TEAM record is bad. You can point fingers everywhere. To try to blame him is trash, and making him third string is weak as fu–.”

The Giants announced that Jones was being benched on Monday, elevating Tommy DeVito to QB1. Drew Lock, whom New York signed for $5 million to back up Jones, remains in his role as QB2. On Tuesday, the Giants added journeyman Tim Boyle, making Jones the fourth-stringer.
The Giants are protecting themselves from having to use Jones and triggering a $23 million injury guarantee. If Jones suffered a serious injury that prevented him from passing a physical on March 12, he would receive $12 million guaranteed. And if he couldn’t pass one by Week 1 of next season, he would get another $11 million.
This season, Jones led the Giants to a 2-8 record, throwing for 2,070 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. His 63.3% completion percentage is his lowest since the 2020 season when he completed 62.5% of passes.
Jones signed a four-year, $160 million deal after the 2022 season. Jones is not owed any guaranteed money after this season.
Giants players aren’t only upset with the team for benching their quarterback, but they’re also placing blame on decision-makers.
“The GM is not that popular in the locker room at all,” Jordan Ranaan of ESPN said regarding the release of another player Nick McCloud
The Giants face the 4-6 Buccanneers and the 3-7 Cowboys coming up. These games could determine the future of coach Brian Daboll with the team.
