Description
Vintage Wilderness Experience Ski-Touring Klettersack. Condition is gently "Used". This is a mountaineering classic from one of the premier outdoor equipment manufacturers of the 1970's. The pack is in outstanding condition for a backpack that is over forty years old. Here are a few links about Wilderness Experience ... https://www.wildernessexperience.net/copy-of-wilderness-experience-backp and https://www.outsideonline.com/2423555/pee-pants-zipperless-fly-chickfly-review . From the Outside review ..."Fans of the Chatsworth, CA based brand

for coats, packs, shorts, and yes, even
ski suits
. For many, it's the cream of the crop, some of the best "stuff" ever made."
The pack has removable internal aluminum slats that stabilize the suspension. The pack would fit a M/L adult, the waistbelt is a M. Hard to believe this pack used to fit me (5'10" and 175 lbs back then) in the 70's when I worked as an Instructor for NOLS in the Wind River Mts. in Wyoming. I've gained several (!) inches in girth since that time. As stated, this pack is in great shape and served me extremely well for a long day of backcountry ski touring or for an extended approach pack.
Aluminum stays are 18" long, the measurements at the bottom stitching of the pack is 10" x 4". Pack is approximately 24-26" tall with top pocket packed. All metal buckles and leather accessory patches.
An outstanding vintage piece of mountaineering history.
