Description
A small piece of vintage Bohemian jewelry making history.Collectible vintage Bohemian jewelry press stamp molding working production die. This die was made by striking a master hub into the metal, embedding the image in reverse. From this working die a forcer die with a raised image would be made. The forcer die and the working die would be secured into a hydraulic machine and used for press stamping sheet metal, typically silver or brass.
Although extremely expensive to produce the master hub (male) and the production die (female), the benefits from mass production outweighed the costs. There are very few original master hubs to be found as they were so valuable and were kept in safes. Production dies such as this are equally valuable and would cost thousands today to replicate. This is one of a set of 41 we acquired from a closed jewelry making company in Jablonec, Czech Republic.
This is still a fully functional working die from which a forcer die for jewelry or leather stamping could be made or alternatively, it could be used for wax, plaster, resin, rubber, silicone or glass molding or a wonderful addition to any private collection or museum.
