    Description

    This is a vintage Elmer Wall designed "Wall Four" in-line four cylinder four cycle 51.4cc model engine.  Elmer Wall (1870-1947) is considered the father of American model engine building.  He designed a number of miniature engines that he developed and sold as kits for builders to finish (Elmer sold the castings as kits).  I do not know when this particular Wall Four was built, but I suspect in approximately the 1940s (with the radiator added at a later time).  This engine is complete with flywheel, gas tank, distributer, coil, water pump, and radiator.  I have not tried to run this engine and am not selling it as a running engine.  I am selling this engine for collection display.  The engine turns over smoothly with compression and all eight valves move at various points through the revolutions.  This engine has not been run in at least thirty years and there is no gas or oil in the engine.  The wire harness is a replacement that was put on by me (the old wires had become too ratty for my taste and I no longer have them, although I did reuse the clips on the sparks on the new wires, and the new wires are braided reproductions of the wires of the day).  I do not see a reason it would not run, but I do not know, and hence it is for collection display.  If any part were to break, it is very likely a new part would have to be made from scratch (this is not a small task and requires high skill).  The head is 6 inches long and 2 and 3/8ths inches wide (the soda can in the one picture is touching the side of the engine to give an idea of size).  The engine and radiator are mounted to about a 15-inch by 5-inch piece of solid cherry wood.  This will be double boxed for shipment, and all boxed this weighs about 17 pounds so I have listed multiple shipping options.  This is a nice piece for your American scale model engine collection.  I will be listing a number of model engines this week, all at 99 cents and no reserve!  The shipping charges include free insurance and delivery tracking (USA only).  Thanks for looking!   California sales tax
